SeagullAs boats flounder, as war rages, as planes drop from the skies I walk outside and turn my face toward the heavens.  My eyes close and I reflect upon the loss of life, the sorrow, and the tragedy.  I breathe and exhale, when I open my eyes I see a seagull ease from the top of a five story building and slip into the current of life.

I am witnessing grace.  On the wing a master sails.  Every wind current is joined as one with this animal. Each eddy is felt or just recognized as how to move at that moment. There is no separation between beak, blood, feather, wind; each gust is rode perfectly.

It is this simple for life to join with life.…for seagulls.  Is it being without this recognition of ourselves in all things that is causing our pain?  Is it this we can change to change all things?

I am a simple man, but my lessons are given to me simply for I might understand.  Watch a bird, or swirl of the wind, or smell a flower; or hold your sleeping child and witness grace and perfection.
